Draught line cleaning should be done regularly in order to maximize beer profits.
Having clean lines will not only make your beer taste better but will also increase your product yield so you can pour more beer out of your kegs! Dirty lines can cause contamination in the beer which will result in off flavors. Other contributors of off flavors are "beer stone", which are calcium deposits left behind from beer sitting in the lines, and yeast buildup which if not taken care of can cause unwanted fermentation, which can result in overly foamy beer as well as off flavors. General maintenance should also be done regularly to ensure everything is pouring properly. Worn out gaskets are the most common issue that can result in waste of beer and also CO2 leaks which is not only a waste of money but can also be potentially fatal if not aware.
Alkaline line cleaning is the most effective way to make sure your beer lines are clean. Alkaline cleaning is recommended to be done every two weeks to maintain the cleanest lines and the best tasting beer.
Acid line cleaning is the same cleaning process as an alkaline cleaning but instead using a chemical designed for removing beer stone. Acid cleanings are recommended to be done quarterly.
Faucets, couplers, clamps, etc. are all prone to wear out over time and cause issues with your draft system. Routine maintenance should be done to ensure everything is working properly.
